"First time here, recommended by a friend. It was 50 cent wing night. Although there was about an hour wait, we were willing to eat at the bar by the kitchen and got in right away. It was nice to be away from the busy, almost like we had our own little spot back there. I highly recommend trying that if there are just 2 of you. The staff was super friendly and the food was great. I had wings and hubby had a burger. The wings are smoked, which was a new experience for me. His burger was huge and actually cooked the way he ordered it. Most places ask and still give it to you well-done, they get it right here! Go! Try it!! You won't regret it."

"We tried Johnny Rays based on a recommendation from my Uncle. It was about an hour drive from the house and it was worth the drive. We started with the hush puppy appetizer with their special tartar sauce. It was the perfect start to the meal. We also bartered a brisket sandwich with white slaw on the side and home made chips as well as the pulled pork sandwich with red slaw on the side and French fries. Both barbecue sandwiches were great. They had great flavor. In addition to the great food, the service was great and the place had a great atmosphere,"

"I had an appointment in Shelby. We passed by this place on the way. Looked it up, it had good reviews. We decided to stop by on the way home. It was a Wednesday afternoon around 2:30ish. We both ordered the pulled pork. It was very dry, like it was old and had been reheated in a microwave(Pic provided). The restaurant wasn't busy at all, maybe 2 other tables total. After our food came out. The waitress never came back to refill our drinks, I actually got up to find her to get me a drink to go. It was a very cozy place, which was nice. Had pretty high hopes for this place. But the overall experience was disappointing. P.s. Ordered the cheese curds appetizer, and they were delish. "

"Tonight was our first time trying Johnny Rays and it did not disappoint! We had to wait about 20 mins for a table but it was dinner time on a Friday night. The employees were friendly, the restaurant was clean and there were plenty of seats to wait on a table. We started with fried pickles and they were really good. They came out hot and crispy! My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and really enjoyed it. The chicken tips were tender and flavorful. The portions were large and priced reasonably! We will definitely be back!!"

"Wow! That is all I can say. The brisket special (Saturday after 5 Pm) is $23 but plenty to feed me and my husband. Too much for either of us alone. We asked and thought the baked beans were similar to pit beans or not just out of a can. I am told they are made there. Disappointed here as they taste like canned beans. Could use some spicing up (meat added, onion, garlic, etc.) The brisket literally melts in your mouth and is a generous portion. The hush puppies were quite delicious. Light and airy and sooo good. The fries were a little crispy, which I loved. I love a lil crunch on my fries. The Moscato ($6) and bottled Copper amber ($6) is a favorite of my husband's. Total bill $34.xx with tax. Waitress was very attentive and checking on us a few times and made sure our order was correct. The wait (saturday night around 6 pm) was only about 15 min. Grab a sweater though as it was a little cool in there. A must stop if you are within an hours drive. You will not be disappointed!"

"Delicious! Food was hot and fresh and came to the table quickly. I got the hot honey wings and my fiance got the chopped brisket plate. We were both very happy with our choices. The wings were a 10/10. Tender and the sauce was delicious."

"Stopped in for lunch. Had a burger and the BBQ platter with pork. Food was pretty good. I wasn't a fan of the fries. Can't decide what I didn't like, maybe the oil. The burger was plenty big that I didn't leave hungry. Service was great. Plenty of seating. Country music playing, Jimmy Ray's playlist, which I enjoyed. I'd eat here again. Give it a try. Going back on a Saturday night so we can try the brisket."
